The editor of this page, when a toddler 70 years ago, had a set of these building blocks.

The BBC will not reveal how much money the 'Greatest Briton' programme made; or how much the above cost to make: or how the 'artist' (?) was selected, and why he had to have his staff - 'computer create' - his - 'ideas' - when such toys are commonplace.

Today these blocks are also used by psychiatrists in testing backward children's mental abilities.

St Paul's captures spirit of Churchill in steel

The challenge was to capture the spirit of Sir Winston Churchill - not in words, nor in stone, but in steel. Yesterday, as St Paul's Cathedral unveiled a new memorial to Britain's wartime leader, they were confident they had achieved just that.

The eight-metre long Winston Churchill Memorial Screen, a bold but intricate set of gates forged in steel and bronze, stretches across the central axis of the Crypt. It cost £260,000 pounds (paid for anonymously) and took 10 craftsmen 7,000 hours to make and install.
